Yes — everything you need is included in your lesson price. Quality soft-top surfboards for beginners, performance boards for progressing surfers, full-length wetsuits in all sizes (kids included), leashes, and rash vests. We replace gear before it wears out, so you'll never be handed something tired.

You're in the safest, most experienced hands in Western Australia. MRSA is led by Simon Tien — a registered paramedic, Master's-qualified mental health practitioner, and active big-wave surfer with more than 30 years on Margaret River's coast. We're Tourism WA endorsed, members of the WA Dream Collective, and we've coached visitors including Daniel Ricciardo for Tourism WA's Drive the Dream campaign.

We recommend basic swimming ability — around 25 metres of confident open-water swimming. All our coaches are qualified in First Aid and Surf Rescue, and we adjust every lesson to match the abilities of the people in it. Nervous swimmers are welcome — we'll choose a calmer beach and run a private lesson if that's what you need.

Every MRSA coach is qualified — it's a non-negotiable for us. All coaches hold current First Aid certification plus either a Surf Search & Rescue qualification or a Bronze Medallion through Surf Life Saving Australia. They're also accredited through Surfing Western Australia. Our lead instructor, Simon Tien, is a registered paramedic.

Surfing has its challenges, but with expert coaching and quality gear, it’s very achievable. We have been teaching surfing for 30 years, and nearly all of our students stand up in their first lesson.

Group lessons start from $50 per person. Private lessons start from $65 per person (minimum 2 people). One-on-one individual coaching is from $130. Every lesson runs for 2 hours, with qualified professional coaches in the water with you the entire time. All equipment is included.
